Let me tell you something straight.
Microblading is old news. Nano brows are better. Much better.
I get asked this every single day. “Should I get microblading or nano brows?”
My answer is always the same. Nano brows.
Here is why.
The Main Difference No One Talks About
Microblading uses a blade. A hand tool with tiny needles. It cuts your skin. Like a paper cut. Over and over.
Nano brows use a machine. One single needle. It deposits pigment gently. No cutting. No slicing.
Think of it this way.
Microblading is a scratch. Nano brows is a whisper.
Which one sounds better for your face?
What Happens During Each Procedure
Let me walk you through both.
Microblading appointment:
The artist draws strokes. Then uses a blade to cut along those lines. Blood appears. Pigment goes into the cuts. It stings. It feels raw.
Healing takes longer because your skin is actually wounded.
Nano brows appointment:
Same numbing cream. Same comfort. But instead of a blade, I use a digital machine. The needle moves up and down. Very fast. Very gentle.
It feels like a tiny vibration. No cutting. No blood.
Which would you choose?
The Healing Process – Night and Day
This is where nano brows really shine.
Microblading healing:
Day 1-3: Dark, thick, painful looking strokes. Day 4-7: Heavy scabbing. Like you fell asleep in the sun. Day 8-10: Scabs fall off. Takes pigment with them sometimes. Patchy results.
You hide for two weeks. No makeup on brows. No sweating. No swimming.
Nano brows healing:
Day 1-3: Brows look dark. Normal. Day 4-7: Light flaking. Tiny bits. Like dry skin after a sunburn. Day 8-14: Color softens. Looks natural.
You can wear makeup around your brows after a few days. Less downtime. Less stress.
Results That Actually Last
Microblading promises 1-2 years. But on oily skin? Try 3-6 months.
The strokes blur. They spread. Turn into a solid shadow. Not hair strokes anymore.
Nano brows actually last 1-2 years. Sometimes more.
The strokes stay crisp. Each hair stroke stays separate. Looks like real brows.

Skin Types Matter So Much
Here is a secret microblading artists won’t tell you.
Microblading only works on normal to dry skin.
Oily skin? The oil pushes pigment out. Strokes blur fast. Waste of money.
Combination skin? Same problem. T-zone oil ruins the front of your brows.
Nano brows work on everyone.
Oily skin? Fine. Combination? Fine. Mature skin? Also fine. Sensitive skin? Yep.
The machine deposits pigment deeper. More precise. Oil can’t push it out.
The “I Tried Microblading and Hated It” Crowd
I see this all the time.
Clients come in. They had microblading before. It turned grey. Or blue. Or blurry.
They thought something was wrong with them.
Nothing was wrong. Microblading just isn’t great.
Nano brows fix it. I can correct previous work easily. Add crisp strokes over the blurry ones. Give you the brows you wanted the first time.
Pain Level Comparison
Everyone asks about pain.
Microblading hurts more. Because it’s a cut. Your skin doesn’t like being cut.
Nano brows feels like a light scratch. Most clients say “that’s it?”
Same numbing cream. Same prep. Just gentler.
Cost Difference – Worth Every Penny
Microblading in Toronto: $400-$600.
Nano brows package: $500.
Fifty to one hundred dollars more. For better results. Longer lasting. Less pain. Works on your skin type.
That’s not expensive. That’s smart.
My nano brows package includes the initial session plus a touch-up. Touch-up is key. That’s when we perfect everything. Add density. Adjust color.
Microblading packages also include touch-ups sometimes. But the touch-up can’t fix blurry strokes. It’s already blurry.
What About Powder Ombré Brows?
Different technique. Different look.
Powder ombré is shading. Soft gradient. Makeup look. No hair strokes.
Nano brows is hair strokes. Natural look. Mimics real brow hairs.
Which is better? Depends what you want.
If you want that filled-in makeup look? Powder ombré brows are amazing.
If you want realistic hair strokes? Nano brows.
Some clients get both. Nano strokes at the front. Powder shading at the tail. Best of both.
Real Talk – Why I Switched to Nano Brows
I used to do microblading. Years ago.
Then I saw the results after 6 months. Blurry. Patchy. Clients unhappy.
I felt bad. They paid good money. They trusted me.
So I learned nano brows. Bought a machine. Trained with the best.
Now that’s all I recommend.
I want you to love your brows for years. Not regret them after 6 months.
Who Should Still Get Microblading?
Honestly? Almost no one.
Maybe if you have super dry skin. And you want a very soft look. And you don’t mind getting touch-ups every 8 months.
But even then… nano brows are better.
Final Verdict
Nano brows win. Every time.
Less pain. Better healing. Works on all skin. Lasts longer. Looks more natural.
Microblading had its moment. That moment is over.
